Philly?

philly

Pink Sheep is lost in Philadelphia!

Except we know right here she is. She flies out tomorrow morning at 7AM local time to Buffalo and then on to Canada.

Huzzah for her. She’s in a nice hotel. =p

Despite not getting anything productive done today, I had a good day, and I look forward to that carrying over into the night.

One of my best friends picked up a Blackberry Pearl today. He’s keen on it so far, I can’t wait to see it.

I may talk more later. For now, however, sweet dreams!

iPhone sales

iphone-sales

They need about 23k a day in 2008 to meet sales expectations of 10million. I doubt they’ll get that. That’s an increase of (roughly) 3k units a day.

There are a few reasons I don’t see that happening. A.) They think that they’ll get 1% of the overall market. That’s pretty nuts in and of itself for a single phone to do.

Secondly, they want to nab up about 50% of the smartphone market. That’s incredibly insane; the fact that they have 20% is already pushing it. Their company just got record numbers and they’re saying that they won’t be able to match anything near that in the next quarter.

So a decline in sales.

Instead of a surge of sales.

And they’re expecting to meet quota.

Does anyone else see how that logic fails?

Time Warner Bandwidth

I didn’t like the idea when AOL was doing it.

I don’t like it now.

If this is what their company wants to do, though, that’s their business.

I honestly think it’ll lose them a lot of customers, but that’s just me. (Both Apple and Time Warner.)

All the guys on DIGG were shouting up a storm about it, though. Some of them were even blaming Comcast for their issues in defense of their favourite ISP’s. I wonder if any of these guys understands that rampant fanboi actions make them appear like morons?

Oh, right. They’re fanbois. They -are- morons. My bad!

One word: Hype

   Posted by: Damadar

one-word-hype

After last year’s MacWorld, where Steve Jobs rolled out the iPhone, everyone has been wondering: What’s next?

This is the problem for people; they’re overhyping Apple’s MacWorld because they think something really cool like the iPhone is coming. Some people are even saying Apple is ‘years ahead of their competitors’…

With the biggest speculations being a ’slimmed down macbook’ and ‘online movie rentals’, I can’t say that Apple is ahead of the competition by any means. Dell, through Alienware, has already had Solid-State laptops available for a while; NetFlix has been doing online movie rentals for ages.

What does this mean? Not a lot; except that maybe Apple’s stock will fall a bit when investors realize they don’t have a brand-new product to launch into the market with.

Investors have probably started pulling out anyway since it looks like a big market Apple was trying to peg, (China,) didn’t happen.

People are setting themselves up for a big dissappointment this year; and I think this guy, (while being something of a MacFanboy by the sounds of the article,) summed it up pretty well.

(He glossed over all the failed products Apple has introduced over the years, though, so keep that in mind while reading his article.)

China says ‘no’ to iPhone.

china-says-no-to-iphone

Apparently China will not be getting an iPhone in 2008.

I’m not too surprised; I wonder if this is going to cut into their plans to sell ten million units this year? I mean, with China having over a billion people, wouldn’t it be a little detrimental to their plans if they couldn’t sell in China?

Or maybe AT&T hopes to upgrade/sign ten million customers this year? ;)

gadgetry

Okay, I admit it. I’m a sucker for an interesting gizmo.

For example, I like the iPhone. It’s a pretty sweet piece of machinery that has an excellent interface. (I’d like to actually own one, but… oh well. ;) )

I stumbled upon, (not using stumble upon, funnily,) this fantastic piece of hardware that is being developed.

I was always one of those people who wanted to talk to the replicators to get food; soon I hope to get my chance!

Apple MacWorld

MacWorld is considered by some, (a small percentage,) to be the Mecca of all their technophile dreams.

I don’t think so, but I do like some of the stuff they’ve come out with, like the iPhone, (through AT&T).

The thing is, this year, it seems like it’s going to flop. And hard.

The big news and predictions for MacWorld are that they’ll have a slimmer MacBook and online DVD rentals…

Which Dell, Alienware, Gateway, Netflix, BlockBuster and others already have.

Hope they have something else up their sleeve, or MacWorld is going to bust hard this year.

You make me hot!

This could be the next thing that gets your phone to ring for you. Body heat has been on the verge of being a source of power for devices like Cell phones; mainly because there wasn’t a way to heat it up, apparently.

The Guys over at SlashDot are spouting an article that says body-heated Cell phones might be the wave of the future.

You can sure bet I want a cell phone strapped to my skin all day so I can call the girl of my dreams. ;)

Oops!

It seems AT&T might have managed to find themselves heading into hot water with the FCC. It seems that AT&T has decided they want to control what you see when you try to go to Google.

Comcast has been doing this for ages, and even admitted to it. Now the FCC might end up fining them a ton of money for what they’ve been doing.

The funny thing? The FCC said that before AT&T announced Net Neutrality might go out the window.

This was smart.
