Some people are morons.

Posted by: Damadar    in Internet, Laws, Music, What the fuck?

some-people-are-morons

Okay. Here’s the situation:

You volunteer at a radio station. Part of what you do is set up playlists for overnight Internet radio play while the station itself is off the air. You get into a minor disagreement about what’s being played, so you decide to leave the station.

So far so normal, right?

But then you take a wild swerve into left field. You throw logic out completely. They changed your god damned playlist. What the fuck. They’re not playing all the music you want. Those bastards. You need to pay them back. You have to. It’s in your blood. You can’t let them get away with this infraction. Who the fuck are they to change what YOU did?

You’re boiling with rage over a minor problem, right? So before you left you made a copy of the key to the building. You left. Then you waited for everyone else to leave, and showed them a lesson.

You caught the god damned building on fire.

Because you’re an idiot.

End scenario.

How dumb does a guy have to be to set a building on fire because they didn’t play the music he wanted them to play?

I can’t imagine how you justify that to yourself. I can’t actually wrap my brain around it. It’s too stupid. My brain doesn’t have a setting that goes that low.

This guy wins the, “I’m the dumbest mother fucker in the country” award.

Obama

Posted by: Damadar    in News, Politics, Racial Stereotyping

obama

I’m tired of hearing this guy’s lies.

Lets start off by talking about the fact that he’s always saying “Hey, these guys are doing bad politics and I’ll stand up and fight for what I think is right! Change! Change!” He says he doesn’t “Play the political game”, but that’s not true at all.

If he wasn’t playing the political game he’d be campaigning in Florida. He’s not, though, because he knows he’d have most of his party turn their backs on him. Talk about not playing the game, eh? Do Floridians not need change?

Lets talk about the “Race” card now. He’s been playing that since day one, and then when another candidate mentioned race, he totally went nuts on it, calling Hillary Clinton a racist because she said a president had to step up and carry the torch. Come on, if that’s not mudslinging, (which he claims not to do,) then I don’t know what is.

Oh, and lets talk about his attacks on Bill Clinton. It was clear to me that Clinton wasn’t talking about Obama’s campaign when he said, “Give me a break, this whole thing has been a Fairy Tale.” Hell, nobody was talking about the campaign when the quote came through, and until Obama brought it up, nobody thought he was talking about the campaign.

Obama said, “Hey, this ain’t no fairytale campaign,” and suddenly everyone is re-evaluating what Clinton said. Come on, people, it’s obvious that he’s just trying to motivate everyone to see him as the underdog. That’s why he keeps bringing up those “Cold nights in Illinois” over and over again. He wants people to think that it started out as a Fairy Tale and that he overcame adversity.

In fact, that’s why he’s been playing the race card. He’s been using it as a dual edged sword. He can talk about it all he wants, but if any other candidate makes a reference to a black person, they’re suddenly racist!

I wonder if that makes him a sexist because he keeps talking down about Hillary Clinton being a woman?

Lets see. Back in 2005, in an effort to make the president more fiscally responsible with the budget, there was a bill introduced demanding the President not only amend his current yearly budget, but also all future budgets too.

How did Obama vote? He Didn’t. He was there, but he didn’t vote.

How about Abortion issues? He’s been saying that he’s pro-choice, but that doesn’t show from his record. He was present for voting THREE times for pro-choice issues and instead of taking a stand for women’s rights, he instead let others decide without him.

The only thing he did was vote “Yes” on an amendment to add more money to the budget, which was rejected by the rest of the senate.

I hope you’re not hoping for support from Obama if you’re a farmer. The guy just doesn’t have any track record with helping you out. Out of four issues that came up, he only voted one time.

If you’re hoping he’ll help you out on your taxes, think again! Almost half the issues that came up that involved taxes he, once again, didn’t vote on!

So far the only thing he’s shown a real tendency to vote on is appropriations. Business owners better beware, too. He didn’t like voting very much either way about you all, so with him in the White House you can expect a lot of documents to just sit on his desk until they’re “Pocket Vetoed”.

That is, after 10 days, they’re automatically vetoed whether or not he thinks they’re good or bad. This is Obama’s strategy for getting into the White House. Never go against anybody.

In 11 issues on Civil Liberties, Obama chose not to vote.

On Education he was 50/50 with Four of his votes yet again not being one way or the other.

The really interesting thing here is that most of his “Not voting” comes in 2007, as he was gearing up to run for president in 2008. I wonder if that’s a coincidence?

You bet it’s not. He was trying not to step on anyone’s toes so that he could get into office.

What was that about not playing the game, Mr. Obama?

Obama has been in office since 2004. He hasn’t done very much since he got in. He was looking for a quick hop into the presidential office, and then he’ll retire for the rest of his life.

He wants to bring on Fiscal Responsibility? He couldn’t even keep himself on a budget 7 years ago, and yet he’s going to fix our country’s rising deficit? My faith isn’t there.

When you listen to him speak, you’re not really listening to him at all, you’re listening to writers who tailor things for him specifically. When he has to wing it, like he did in the debate against Hillary Clinton, he comes across as bumbling.

Lets talk about his ability to do things, too. He said he’s a leader. An advocate of change. The kind of guy that can get things done. But then he turned around and said that he was just good at getting other people together who will do the work for him.

In fact, that’s all he’s ever done. That’s what his campaign staff is doing for him now. He admits that he loses critical papers, that he can’t actually run anything on his own, and that he needs others to do it for him.

A President is supposed to be a leader. They can’t have others reading their documents for them, or keeping the bills in order. They have to have the courage to stand up and make decisions, the ability to do what they need to do in order to make things work.

If by Candidate of Change he means “Candidate that doesn’t do anything”, then he’s dead on. Otherwise he’s just puffing smoke.

Google and Domain Name Tasting

Posted by: Syphor    in Internet, News, Technology

It seems that, according to a “confidential” source inside Google, the search engine giant will quit running, or at least paying for ads on domains if they’re less than five days old. This, when it goes into effect, could make a lot of the random domain name registering known as “tasting” stop, or more likely slow down a bit.

The reason is simple. The “Add Grace Period” is a small buffer of time that a registrar can remove a domain they’d registered, at no cost to themselves. It just happens to be five days – the same limit as the leaked policy. The thing is, since a domain name is essentially free for the first five days, quite a few rather unscrupulous people have taken to making a business out of registering hundreds, thousands, or even more domains, dropping Google AdSense on them, and then canceling the domains when their freebie time is up. Perhaps unexpectedly, the parked domains can actually garner a LOT of hits – and therefore a lot of advertising money, even after Google’s cut. Basically, it boils down to “Free money” if you automate domain creation/cancellation. This really isn’t fair to legit site owners or, to some degree, the advertisers.

Now, you’re probably wondering why I list the advertisers here. They are, after all, paying for their ads to be shown, and they are, right? Well, yes. But to be honest, would you, as a possible customer, be more likely to click on and show interest in a product related to the page you’re reading than something piled in the middle of a page that is simply ALL advertisement? Especially if you got to said page by accident, likely a typo. There will always be those who see something and click it randomly – like those who try to buy “male enhancement” drugs through spam offers – but the great majority probably won’t.

In any case, although it’s rather interesting that Google (who makes out quite well from their cut of these ad sites) has taken this stand, it makes sense from a legal standpoint. Remember the recent and semi-recent lawsuits about “click fraud” and the like for advertising charges. This may be looked at as another safe move for them. One way or another, if other online advertising companies follow suit, maybe the web will be less polluted with random advert-only websites, as there will be less incentive to create random names to serve ads for the grace period. One can hope, but ad-only probably never completely go away, though. If there’s money in it, SOMEONE will give it a try.

This is just my take on the issue, your opinion may differ. Feel free to comment about it! :)

iPhone sales

Posted by: Damadar    in Computers, Entertainment, Internet, Phone Companies, Technology

iphone-sales

They need about 23k a day in 2008 to meet sales expectations of 10million. I doubt they’ll get that. That’s an increase of (roughly) 3k units a day.

There are a few reasons I don’t see that happening. A.) They think that they’ll get 1% of the overall market. That’s pretty nuts in and of itself for a single phone to do.

Secondly, they want to nab up about 50% of the smartphone market. That’s incredibly insane; the fact that they have 20% is already pushing it. Their company just got record numbers and they’re saying that they won’t be able to match anything near that in the next quarter.

So a decline in sales.

Instead of a surge of sales.

And they’re expecting to meet quota.

Does anyone else see how that logic fails?

Apple stock falls

Posted by: Damadar    in Computers, Entertainment, Internet, Technology

apple-stock-falls

I mentioned this days before Macworld happened to my friends as we were talking about various different things. (Including some D&D content I’ll be releasing later.)

The thing is, part of this can be blamed on the economy. But only part. Most of this needs to be shouldered by the people who put so much into Macworld.

They made unreasonable expectations, and then Apple said, “Oh, yeah, we’re going mediocre this year.” and they did just that.

The iPhone was cool. The Macbook wasn’t s’much. (Still sleek lookin’, though.)

To be honest, I’m glad, but that’s just me.

Vista- Safer

Posted by: Damadar    in Entertainment, Internet, Technology

Not necessarily. Being the sofware giant that is Microsoft comes with a few pitfalls. One of those is that everyone wants to haxxorz your software and fuck with the people who use it.

When you get good news, though sometimes you just have to hype it, and this is a pretty good example of that. Fewer security risks than any other OS around in the first year.

And people were all saying how much safer they were with OSX. Tee Hee.

Wait on MBAir.

wait-on-mbair

I could have told you that. But this guy decided to break it down into ten points for you.

Really, I can sum it up in a number of much finer points:

Overpriced and underpowered. You get very little, and you pay out the ass for it. Sure, it’s sleek, it looks nice, but that’s not saying it’s a good piece of machinery. Paying $2,000 for this thing would be silly. An extra two pounds won’t matter to anyone when you’re looking at a regular sized laptop.

Which is what you’re looking at It’s only marginally smaller than other laptops of roughly the same specs, and for ultra portables, it’s much, much larger.

Not to mention you won’t get any work done if you have to lug around a bunch of accessories. I know for a fact that if someone with an Air came up to me and asked me if they could use my CD Drive on my laptop I’d laugh in their faces and tell them to get their own.

Honestly. Using someone else’s CD Drive? What kind of crap is that?

IE8 – More complex

But in a good way. IE8 looks like it could be a kick-ass browser. Now if they change the look and design layout, I’ll be happier with it than I am right now. (Go Go Firefox.)

You can find more info on IE8 here if you’re interested. It basically just tells you all about how IE8 will have a new tag in it that will tell IE which browser rendering layer to use.

Which is good. They’re thinking about the future possibilities of backwards compatibility.

Women

Posted by: Damadar    in Books, Entertainment, News

women

Actually, I’m not very condescending to most women. I’m all for the women’s rights movement and such. I grew up in a house full of women and I don’t think there’s “Women’s work” and “Men’s work” around a house.

But sometimes women piss me off.

I mean, seriously. Come on. How stupid do you have to be to come up with this kind of garbage?

This woman likes sex. Just not with her husband, who she’s remaining married to because they have kids. Okay. I can handle that. It’s not so uncommon that women (and men) become dissatisfied in relationships.

So that’s cleared up and out of the way. Next?

She almost cheated on her husband. She would have, too, if the guy she’d planned on cheating with hadn’t hooked up with some other chick first. He found out and didn’t kick her to the curb.

I think that was kinda silly of him, but understandable. She told him she couldn’t stand to have sex with him, cried, and then apparently they had sex for several months.

Then she stopped and hadn’t given him any for four years.

That’s all fine and good, but then she went off and wrote a book about it. She not only basically blamed her husband for a problem that they were both to blame for, but she publicized it for the world to see.

She went a step further and said that every woman who was married feels that way. She also makes it out like females are the only ones who can experience this.

I’m sorry, but she’s fucking retarded.

There’s more to a relationship than sex. Some people have crazy, delirious mind-numbing sex. Others don’t. There are a number of factors, including the skill of bot yourself and your partner. Part of it is you. Part of it is them.

She touts herself as a martyr because she’s doing the right thing and not being selfish. Fuck selfishness, you don’t just ‘quit’ something because it got ‘tough’. Find out why you’re not enjoying sex and fix it.

And if it’s because, as the article suggests, you can’t have multiple lovers at once, then maybe the problem is with you rushing into something before you knew what you wanted.

The real thing here, though, is that she’s shown herself to be below even culturally accepted norms by wanting to go out and fuck an old boyfriend. She’s further pushed herself back by saying, “Hey, guys, it’s not us that have problems in a marriage, it’s you!”

Oh, and let us not forget about the kids! She said directly that being a mother meant you couldn’t have a good sex life.

So, kids, there you go. It’s your fault. It’s everyone else’s fault but her own, because she’s perfect.

One wonders…

Posted by: Syphor    in Entertainment, News

..just what goes through the minds of some people. Most, when someone leaves a message asking a civil question, reply politely, or simply don’t return the message at all. Either is better than what one man’s wife did, especially with the way it backfired. Maybe you don’t believe that you – whose home number is plainly listed – can be called at home, but you don’t exactly need to call them back just to tell them off about a single request.

Read the article here: http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/S/SNOW_DAY_SNAP

What’s especially interesting about this is that it would seem she hit his voicemail, or he records every incoming message. Either way, I guess she never expected her yelling to become public. Funny what comes back to bite you, isn’t it?
